Our Staff

The Truro Preschool staff consists of:

  • 9 teachers,
  • 10 teaching assistants,
  • a chapel director and an assistant, and
  • 4 office and support staff.

Applicants to Truro Preschool & Kindergarten are evaluated based on his or her: personal relationship to Jesus Christ and their walk of faith, experience working with preschool/kindergarten age children, love for children and ability to relate to others, educational background, and ability to plan creatively and implement an effective program for children.

Upon employment, all Truro Preschool & Kindergarten Staff are subject to a criminal background check and must attend a four hour seminar on the Awareness of Sexual Misconduct. All staff members are CPR trained and attend a First Aid refresher annually. Truro Preschool & Kindergarten staff are required to receive annual certification from a practicing physician that they are free from any illness or disability which would prevent them from caring for children. They are also required to have a tuberculin skin test every two years.

Our teachers all have either a B.A., B.S. degree, or a CDA (Child Development Associate credential), as do most of our assistants. The teachers average 10 years of childcare and/or teaching experience and all employees are confessing Christians.

The Director of the program regularly monitors classroom activity and continually evaluates the effectiveness of the school program. The school also employs an Early Childhood Development Specialist who is responsible for the curriculum at Truro Preschool and regularly works with the teaching staff to ensure that appropriate techniques and curriculum are being consistently delivered in the classroom. The Early Childhood Development Specialist also works with special needs children, their parents, and the teacher to ensure that every child’s developmental needs are met during the program. The TPK Office staff is rounded out by an Administrator and an Administrative Assistant.
